Colorado Ballet's version of Swan Lake is sure to fly high, what with its with impressive sets and costumes, along with an intriguing and unusual challenge for the principal dancer, who'll portray the white swan as well as the black one. The hauntingly beautiful story follows young lovers Siegfried and Odette, who's been captured by an evil sorcerer and transformed into a swan. Siegfred only has a short time to save his beloved before she's cursed to remain in that form forever, but standing in his way is the sorcerer's daughter, the beguiling black swan Odile, who comes to tempt and distract him away from his quest. This 56th season-opening production comes to Denver's Ellie Caulkins Opera House with live accompaniment of Tchaikovsky's brilliant score by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.
