Superior Donuts
John Hand Theater
7653 E. 1st Place Denver
Superior Donuts takes places in the historic Uptown neighborhood of Chicago, where aging hippie Arthur Przybyszewski runs a donut shop that's been in his family for 60 years. Franco Wicks -- a young African-American man, and Arthur's only employee -- wants to modernize the shop while Arthur is more content to spend the day reminiscing about his Polish immigrant father. Described by Variety as a "soulful play, full of humor and humanity," this provocative comedy by Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Letts explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship. Take a bite out of Superior Donuts, which was the inspiration for the CBS sitcom with Judd Hirsch and Jermaine Fowler, at Denver's John Hand Theater.
