Marie Antoinette may be a period piece, but with its story of a fabulously wealthy, fashion-setting teenage drama queen reminiscent of certain reality TV stars, this guillotine-sharp satire could just as well be set today. But France's famed 18th-century monarch has her own issues dealing with fickle fame and fortune, especially as her once-loyal subjects begin to royally despise her in the midst of an economic downturn and she barrels blindly toward tragedy. Written by multi-award-winning playwright and Guggenheim Fellow David Adjmi (3C), this fresh take on one of history's most iconic figures was called "marvelous, disturbing, revisionist" by New York magazine. Henry Award-winning actress Missy Moore (Getting Out) stars in this production from The Edge Theater in Lakewood.
